As we have a now ageing society we have to address greater demands on the NHS budgets to achieve products that ‘prevent’ or ‘aid in the healing process’.

Pressure and shear are a far greater concern in the vulnerable, aged patient or a long-term bed user. Not only from the discomfort and pain for the patient but the cost on resources on a Level 4, ulcer and above puts a huge strain on already constrained budgets.

Microclimate management is a further consideration and can sometimes be over-looked. But with the combination of excellent pressure relief, based on the Waterlow scores, and the correct cover combinations to aid in microclimate, real prevention can be achieved.

RPL.have the latest machinery and experience in medical foam combinations to create mattresses and cushions pads that are effective and can make a real difference.

We have recently developed a mattress and topper that has a comfort layer that performs very like memory foam. The comfort layer will remain soft and pliable at any temperature, unlike memory foam, that is so temperature sensitive that it will become hard when cold.

This unique Visco Lux product does not generate heat for the user, which is a major ‘down-side’ to memory foam. This product is ideal for long-term bed users or where the patient has raised a temperature.

Computer aided machinery design castellation combinations for advanced pressure relief. The channels created by the castellation’s can be increased where needed to ensure there is a constant in-built airflow system allowing thermo-regulation to maintain an even body temperature.
